Yeah, it's not worth it. I might just scrap the whole metal box and buy some wood and enclose the voltage rgulators in the wooden box and have the knobs sticking out.
Wasted a few quid and time but oh well.

Might just put an earth wire to all the regulators anyway even in the box.

I am using three separate regulators instead of 1 because the my electrical sockets in UK are rated 13amp
So 5A + 5A + 5A would destroy the socket.

I prefer to use three electrical sockets so I am underloading them.

Guys the below box is around $30 from ebay. Cheap airbox and comes with filter.
I thought it could be a good point to take the pressure readings just under where the test piece goes :)

Wether the air box filter is too restrictive is another thing. Although as it is a air induction box for cars you would assume it would be fine.
My test piece cylinder head is 76.2mm

You'de also be pleased to know that I have gone to wooden box. Better to be safer.

Hi guys,

I have limited room so I have designed the orfice box as per below. Which side of the divider should I mount the orifice or does it not matter.

The way you have it shown, I would add a baffle plate above the orifice no closer than 3" to keep the airflow from hitting the orifice directly.

The plate needs to see the flow from the edges for it to maintain a consistent Cd across it's working range. Think water falling over the edge of waterfall.

Is this a baffle plate? It can also act like a filter to stop heavy bits damaging the motor.

If you look through the build threads you'll see a plate of wood or perspex mounted on threaded rod approximately 4" away from either side of the orifice plate.

Guys,

When testing with manometer I thought I'd check with you if the following is normal. TEST pressure. One tube in the test chamber, other tube just left dangling in atmosphere.

When the three motors are full blast and the pipe diameter is 3 inches unrestricted the reading is around 3 water inches.

As soon as I cover half of the pipe with my hand the reading shoots up to 20 water inches.

Is this how it should be ?
