Post by bales »

My use of the flowbench I plan to build will test heads for small c.i . 3 cyl engine approx 1.3 ltre or 71 ci. specifically. What will be the motor requirements for this project 120 0r 240 volt and how many. Any recommendations.

Thank you.

Bales, are you planning on building the PTS plans?

What is the HP range of the engine?

I guess is that this is a Super/Turbo charged engine or something running 12 to 15,000 RPM with multiple valves per cylinder.

300 Hp / 3 = 100 / .27 = 370 CFM air requirement @ 28" a tall order for naturally exasperated so you will need to build a bench with access to 240VAC, since you posted 120/240 i assume you are in the US? which should not be an issue. All this said you will need a minimum 6 good motors to be able to flow these kind of numbers on a single internal plate.
