Just came across this on Speedtalk,

This is Erland Cox, This is an excelent thread to read, but here is a quote from him talking about exhaust ports on a head of his they are doing a CFD model of.

Bjorn, it is the exhaust port. It looks like the flow velocity in the straight part of the port evens out with higher pressure.
But it is very interesting to see that at 100 PSI the exhaust port still does what the flow bench says at 28".
It is very instructive to put a finger in the port and feel the flow on the bench.
You can immediately feel were the flow separates and test with a wand where the air is going.
Seeing the port flow like this in CFD is very interesting and valuable.
