Hi, I've been poking around the forums for the past couple of years and I'm finally ready to start my flow bench build. I plan on building a 12 motor bench using the PTS SSR Motor Control Bruce sells. The description says this will control 2 - 8 motors. Will I need 2 to control a 12 motor bench? Thanks.

It's not the number of motors so much as the total maximum current that needs to be controlled.

SSRs rated up to 150 amps are available, so it should not be a problem.
The heat sink will need to be made sufficiently large to do the job.

Don't be stingy with the SSR ratings.
Use something rated well in excess of the expected maximum current, it will run cooler and be more reliable than something stressed right out.

The current PTS SSR that I supply is 75A, I sell it over rated so it does not cause any issues as Tony stated above. It is well suited to the 8 motor build as they come in under 40A.

Thanks for the quick replys. I'm assuming an 100amp relay would be suffiecent with my build. I remember reading that HBControls was a good source for a SSR but I couldn't locate a 100A 220VAC SSR on their website. Any other good sources to find one?
