here is the SG of antifreeze and water at temperature vs. % of antifreeze in water. Keep in mind specific gravity changes with temperature.
and here is the link where it is formatted much better http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ethyl ... d_146.html

Specific Gravity- SG -
Temperature Ethylene Glycol Solution (% by volume)
(oF) (oC) 25 30 40 50 60 65 100
-40 -40 1) 1) 1) 1) 1.12 1.13 1)
0 -17.8 1) 1) 1.08 1.10 1.11 1.12 1.16
40 4.4 1.048 1.057 1.07 1.088 1.1 1.11 1.145
80 26.7 1.04 1.048 1.06 1.077 1.09 1.095 1.13
120 48.9 1.03 1.038 1.05 1.064 1.077 1.082 1.115
160 71.1 1.018 1.025 1.038 1.05 1.062 1.068 1.1
200 93.3 1.005 1.013 1.026 1.038 1.049 1.054 1.084
240 115.6 2) 2) 2) 2) 2) 2) 1.067
280 137.8 2) 2) 2) 2) 2) 2) 1.05

Thanks John that's some interesting numbers.

My own testing tonight.

50/50 water/anti freeze is about 1/2" off at 20" of water.

I tried a 7- 10% anti freeze to water solution. it ran equal to straight water.

It's now out in the cab of my truck(didn't want to kill the wild cats around here that keep the mouse population in check ;) ) with a thermometer on the seat. will see if it freezes over night.

Think this is the direction i will be going. We will see in the morning!

I have given up on the MMO and Dot 5 brake fluid.(My fps probe is still MMO)

They are just to slow..... Maybe a larger bench port would help, i don't know.....

I have been experimenting with % of water/antifreeze.

15% anti freeze is Max before the inch scale stops fallowing a inch scale that is straight water!

My 7% solution didn't freeze over night but flowed much slower then the 50/50

My incline is 50/50. and my vertical is 10% anti freeze.

spent a lot of time calibrating my incline to make sure it was right on the money!!
Recalibrate my bench, and was happy to fine it didn't need any adjustments. 8-)

I added on little up grade :D to by gauge wall before i started calibrating my incline/ bench.

The level is detach able so i can us it for other things as well.

If i get some of that other fluid, i will test and post up.
My bench is back in working order, don't want to mess with it any more......well except dialing in my Motor Controller.

spent a lot of time calibrating my incline to make sure it was right on the money!!

My buddy gave me some clear Gauge oil that has a .784 SG. (half a gallon )
Ray, i may be bugging you for another pdf scale  ......later on!

For now the weather is manageable and DONE with the experimenting of this stuff.

It seam to be a real cool gauge oil.....Freezes at -70* F and has a flash point of 170*f
That should fix my winter gauge freeze up problem

Winter project!!!!!!!!

Flash,

HALF A GALLON! If you get Ray to make up a scale and you bottle that stuff for half of what Dwyer sells it for you might just be able to retire :D

Google is your friend :)

Looks like fluid used in oil filled gages?

that would make sense.
I live in a oil field community and my buddy mostly, calibrates instruments for the oil field.
