| The engine configurations listed below are for those who want a long lived, strong performing street bike that won't be a pain in the ass in hot weather. They're good, proven combinations. Street performance is heavily tied to 3 components.
KZ900 Base Street Motor with good street manners and strong performance Stock Cylinder Block [bore only] -Stock Retainers -Shim on Top - Stock Valve Buckets - Stock Valves Sizes Components List: * 1015cc Pistons @ 10.5:1 Compression * Web 118 Grind Camshafts [drop in - can be bolted to stock sprockets with new cam chain] Carburetion : * 29mm Mikuni Smoothbores [used Ebay Items.....it's a crapshoot on what you find] * Stock late model 28mm Mikunis [ Accelerator pump models on MKII motors 79-80 [larger carburetors are not required on an engine this size for street use] [Late Model 34mm CV carbs can also be used but not our top preference for this setup] Misc. Notes: [Cam chain and associated rollers should be inspected and replaced as needed] [Crankshaft welding is not needed unless you're going to drag race with a slick]

Over 30 years of experience with Kawasaki KZ engines has proven one thing for certain. You don't need big camshafts to get big performance if you have a good cylinder head! For excellent street behavior combined with great midrange and top end without the headaches that big cams can bring to the picture, the camshafts listed above will provide excellent performance.
